  Chapter 1

As I watched the sun set over the distant hills, I saw yet another group of would-be heroes marching toward the city. We had been under siege for two weeks, ever since the programmers decided that it would be fun to put a bounty on my demon children’s’ heads. If anyone could kill one and send it back to the Underworld, there was a prize waiting for them of 100,000 in-game gold.

  Oh and how they tried.

The group marching toward Haven was just another of the multitude of dumbasses who had tried to attack, and they weren’t going to fare much better than the others.

“Oh jeeze, another one?” said Anna as she joined me on the balcony.

“Yeah, but there’s only about a dozen of them,” I said shaking my head. “I don’t know why they think its so fun to get their asses kicked by us and drop down a level. I mean, what’s the point?”

“Bragging rights,” she suggested with a shrug.

“Well, let’s give them something to brag about,” I said with a sly grin.

“Just let the militia take care of them,” she said snuggling up to me. “Your cooldown is up, and the others are waiting for you in the bedroom.”

“Tell them I’ll be there in a minute,” I said and kissed her on the cheek. “I just can’t resist.”

Ten minutes later, I stepped out of the energy shield with five of my golden demon sons and waited for the intruders to reach us. I counted twenty and laughed to myself when I saw that none of them were over level 55. I had leveled fourteen times with my girls over the last two weeks, and I was now a level 80. They didn’t have a chance, and they knew it. But this wasn’t about winning to them, it was like Anna said, bragging rights.

“Samson!” the apparent leader of the guild yelled. “Surrender now and hand over your women, and we shall spare your life.”

His guild mates laughed, and I realized that they were all drunk.

“Bone Reavers?” I said, reading the guild name that floated over their heads. “A reaver is a plundering forager, does that mean that you plunder cock?”

“Funny,” said the leader. His name was Hound, and he was currently in the form of a werewolf. There were other werewolves in the guild, along with a few vampires and other shifters.

His guild mates fanned out behind him, and they gazed at my castle with unmistakable reverence.

“Look guys, you know that you’re not going to beat me,” I said. “How about I just sign your lunch boxes and you can be on your way.”

“You’re pretty tough with your demon sons standing with you,” said Hound.

  I laughed at that. “Dude, you’re a level 54, I’m level 80. You know you can’t win.”

“But we don’t have to win,” he said with a grin. “We just have to kill you or one of your golden dickheads.”

Apparently, that was the keyword, because when Hound said it, everyone in the guild shot spells at me. My five sons leapt into the path of the spells, bringing up their own Fire Shields as they did, and deflected all the shimmering projectiles.

When the smoke cleared, I grinned at Hound.

“My turn,” I said with a grin, and moved through the hand gestures to conjure Nuclear Thunderclap.

“Shields!” Hound screamed, and a moment later I unleashed my spell.

A thin beam of laser-like light shot out of my hand, sped across the hundred yards that separated us, and exploded at Hound’s feet. The blast sent everyone flying ass over teakettle, and a satisfying little mushroom cloud rose up from the crater that I had created.

No sooner had the dumbasses landed than I raced toward the closest and put him out of his misery with a Fireball to the face. My blast hadn’t killed them all but being in the middle of such an explosion was disorienting as hell, and I dispatched another two shifters before they even knew what had happened.

My five sons wreaked havoc on the Bone Weavers, and by the time the smoke cleared, there were only four of the intruders still standing, including Hound. The werewolf stood on shaky feet, but two of his remaining guild mates were healers, and his health bar was steadily rising. He unsheathed a jagged-toothed sword and pointed it at me.

“Just you and me, Samson, let’s see what you’re made of.”

“Have it your way.” I gestured for my sons to stay back, activated my Fire Shield, and unsheathed my enchanted blade.

We moved in a circle, sizing up each other. Hound may have only been a level 54, but he was a werewolf, and therefore incredibly strong and quick. That was one of the takeaways of being a shifter; you got nerfed on magic, but the other physical attributes sometimes made up for it, especially if you chose a melee class to go along with it.

Hound was a warrior, and while he might have been able to give me a run for my money if I was the same level, he didn’t have a chance in hell against me now. I was now one of the highest players in the game, second only to a few of my guild mates.

I kept an eye on Hound’s remaining guild mates, knowing that this wasn’t going to be a clean fight. Hound was trying to keep his guildmates at my back, and I was pretty over our little circular dance. I lunged forward, stabbing my sword quickly at his stomach. The werewolf slapped the sword away with his jagged-toothed blade, then retaliated with a series of impressive strikes. I blocked them all with my Fire Shield and met the last one with my enchanted blade. The two swords slammed into each other with an explosive retort, but mine had been forged in the Underworld and enchanted by Megulla herself, and it shattered the inferior blade.

Hound didn’t act surprised by the destruction of his sword, and he quickly flipped backward before I could land a killing blow. When he did so, his three guild mates all attacked with a barrage of spells that would have killed me had I been their level. I deflected one with my sword and superior speed, and another bounced off my shield. The only spell that landed was a curse from a vampire warlock, but my armor absorbed the inferior magic.

I turned my attention on the others, hitting one with Arcane Lightning, another with a Magic Bolt, and the last with Hellfire. Two of the shifters survived my attack, though my spells had left them both on their asses with low health, but the one that I hit with Hellfire squealed as the green flames consumed her and turned her to ash.

Hound growled and suddenly shot across the expanse in a blur of motion, most likely having used Warrior Charge to propel himself at such high speed. I had only a moment to react, and I did the unexpected. Rather than try to move away or deflect the newly conjured blade coming toward me, I met the attack head on. Hound’s sword sparked against my enchanted armor, dropping it to 85%, but I felt nothing more than a slight tap on my chest as I too stabbed forward.

  Soul Shatter Strike!

Hound’s eyes went wide, and a heartbeat later he exploded into a million pieces.

His guild mates smartly turned tail and ran, but they didn’t get far before my sons’ spells reduced them to piles of smoldering ash. I took a quick look at the money and loot that I received from the dead and laughed to myself. Hound and his guildmates had known that they would lose, so they had filled their inventories with things like dog shit, vomit, and rotten fish.

When I returned to the castle, my ladies were waiting for me. Not only were they naked, but they were all hanging from the ceiling in sex swings. The harnesses all attached to a kind of carousel that connected to the thick ceiling beams.

“Look what we made,” said Kit happily as she spun from the ceiling.

“You girls are crazy,” I said with a laugh, but I had to admit that it was pretty hot to see eight naked women bound in leather hanging fro
m the ceiling.

I tapped on my interface a few times, and my clothes disappeared. Without the restraint of my robes, my dick sprang to attention, and I grinned at my ladies.

  “Who’s first?”

“Me, me, me!” Kit said excitedly. “I’ve been such a bad girl…I need to be punished.”

I moved to the center of the circle of naked women and gave them a little spin. They laughed as they spun, reaching for my proud soldier and trying to be the first to get a hold of it. Kit released a spell in my direction, and the next thing I knew, vines had grabbed me around the waist and pulled me to her waiting mouth. Not to be outdone, Nanaya lashed her long whip around my neck and pulled me over to her. I spun her around and took her from behind. She was hanging face down with her legs spread wide behind her, and I grabbed onto the base of her wings and bounced her off my cock until she was twitching.

After Nanaya climaxed I gave her a gentle push, moving the carousel, and bring a grinning Ember before me. She was held aloft face up by about a dozen leather straps, and her legs were spread to almost a complete split by small chains.

“Give it to me you sexy bastard!” she cried as I teased her by rubbing the head of my throbbing manhood around her dark folds.

I thrusted into Ember vigorously, and the other ladies began cheering me on.

“Screw that little rogue slut!” Zoe yelled.

“Give it to her Big Daddy!” kit cheered.

I moved from Ember to Kit, then took Cecilia from behind, pounding her until she was singing falsetto. Zoe insisted on being next, swearing and taunting me that I couldn’t get her off. I proved her wrong a few minutes later, ravishing her like a conquering king.

When all my little nymphos were satisfied, I busted a nut on Stormy’s ass and beat my chest like King Kong.

  Congratulations!

  You have reached Level 81

In the morning, Miramar informed me that another army was attacking the castle. But these newest invaders weren’t real world players, they were humans from one of the other kingdoms in Ozara. Word had spread about Samson the Demon Lord, not only through the Rebirth Network, but also among the many NPCs that inhabited the game. These humans had attacked before. Their leader, King Hammond III, was a religious zealot who had made it his life’s goal to destroy us all and rid the world of darkness.

  Fucking NPCs.

“How many do they have with them?” I asked Miramar.

“Five-thousand, Sir. Should I send the militia?”

“No, let them rest, my sons will take care of them.”

“As you wish, Sire,” said Miramar. “I will prepare the staff to receive our guests.”

“Good, when are King Hagar and the others arriving?”

  “Noon, Sire.”

“Alright, make sure the chef knows to cook the dwarves’ steak rare, that shit should still have a pulse.”

  “A pulse, sire?”

  “It’s a figure of speech.”

  “Of course, Sire.”

I brought my coffee out to the balcony and took in the view. With the help of our dwarven neighbors, we had built a giant castle around the original tower, which had also been added to, and now loomed seven stories above the city. We had decided on the name Thunder Castle, and for dramatic flair, we put an enchanted orb at the end of a long pole and placed it on the top of Samson Tower. Lightning crackled inside the stormy orb and cast a glow on the entire castle.

The courtyard around Samson Tower looked like a work of art. It was circular, and covered in exotic flowers, ponds, and little waterfalls. Kit even had a pixie garden going in there, and we often retired in the courtyard to relax and smoke enchanted pot.

Beyond the courtyard, the castle had eight main wings that extended more than five hundred feet like the points of a compass rose, with an outer ring around the edge. We had a shitload of catapults, ballista, and dragon harpoons on the battlements and towers, and we were constantly upgrading them as the castle gained power.

The city had evolved a lot in two weeks as well. Gone were the ramshackle tents that my human followers had started with. Now, tall wattle and daub townhouses lined the streets around the castle, along with beautiful brick buildings, and a marketplace that was bustling with activity.

A thirty-foot-tall and twenty-foot-thick stone wall surrounded the entire city, and thanks to the nature of being in a virtual world, we could simply move the wall out farther as we expanded the city. Thanks to the Everstone that helped power Samson Tower, the emerald shield could reach all the way to the wall, offering my citizens security in this tumultuous time.

Everything was tied into the castle, and I could control it all through my interface. My guild mates had access to the castle interface as well, and with it we could activate ballista from anywhere in the city, raise or lower shields, and command NPC soldiers. The Tower, and therefore the entire castle leveled much like we did. The more enemies that we defeated, and the more citizens that I gained, the stronger the tower became.

The crops had begun to produce as well, and we now had over one-thousand livestock that Frisco had smuggled to us from a nearby zone. Trade with our neighbors was going well, but it was a pain in the ass for us to move the ore, enchanted weapons, jewelry, and other wares that we were getting. Since we were basically wanted by every authority in Rebirth Online, we were forced to trade through the underground markets. But we were doing well considering that we were under siege, and we had almost ten million in-game gold in the guild vault.

Things hadn’t gone exactly the way I had intended lately, but I still had my girls, I had Tweak, and we had a growing kingdom. In truth, I didn’t mind so much being targeted by just about everyone in the game, what pissed me off more than anything was the disrespect that I had gotten from the game masters. After all that I had done for the game, they were treating me like shit with their ridiculous proclamation that I was a dark lord. I mean, hell, it was their stupid decision to include the update that allowed players to impregnate NPCs. I hadn’t tried to build a demon army, one had just kind of fallen in my lap, and I couldn’t send them back to the Underworld, because if I did so, my kingdom would fall to my enemies, and that wasn’t about to happen, no fucking way, no fucking how.

When noon rolled around, Queen Lyra of the Great Wood arrived with a small entourage of generals. King Hagar arrived next, followed by Gregor, Chieftain of the Barbarians, and Moondar, Queen of the Gnomes. Miramar led them to the dining room, where my guild mates and I stood waiting.

“Thank you all for coming,” I said as they entered. “Please, sit, dine with us.”

“I didn’t come here to eat,” said Hagar, but then he sniffed at the aroma of grilled beef riding out from the kitchen. “But…I ain’t one to let good food go to waste.”

“Excellent, the servers will take your drink orders,” I said, gesturing him toward the table.

“Lyra and I are not meat eaters,” said Moondar in that adorable little voice.

“Of course,” I said with a bow. “The chef is aware, and he has something special for you.

“How did you grow so beautiful without meat?” Gregor asked Lyra, truly perplexed.

“One has nothing to do with the other,” said Lyra, and sauntered over to her chair.

We dined on the fine lunch and the conversation was light hearted up until I asked Lyra how things were in the Great Wood.

“That is why I came in person today,” she said, putting her fork down and straightening. “The goblins from the east have been attacking more frequently, as have the mountain trolls, and even the giants. They are often led by what you call real world players.”

“I’m sorry to hear that,” I said, but was interrupted by Hagar.

“Aye, we got similar problems,” said Hagar, then he let out a burp and continued. “The zealot King Hammond’s bloody third general, a bloke they call Justice Hammer, has been givin’ us trouble.”

  “He has attacked?” I asked.

  “Nay, but he bee
n attackin’ our cousins, and I learned just this mornin’ that indeed, he be sending a force our way. Not only that, but the Minotaurs have named us their enemies as well. They might seem like a mean bunch, but they ain’t for likin’ demons or demons lords, which is what people be callin’ ye.”

“You know that I’m not some evil demon lord, Hagar.” I looked around at Lyra, Moondar, and Gregor. “You all know that. I haven’t attacked or tried to conquer anyone. I haven’t amassed a demon army. I’ve simply protected my people and my kingdom with every resource that I have, and the best of those resources just so happen to be my sons.”

“Demon sons,” said Moondar with a scowl.

  “Half demon,” I corrected her.

“You ensured us that you would deal with them,” said Gregor. “Send them back to the Underworld where they belong.”

“That was the intention,” I told him. “But without them, we would not be able to keep the hordes at bay. Give it some time, Gregor, this will all blow over.”

“The elders fear that I have made a bad decision allying with you,” said Lyra. “There is much discontent among my people. They are blaming me for the recent attacks. This is no small thing, Samson, elves have died.”

“If you hadn’t made an allegiance with us,” said Trinity evenly. “Then the foreigners would have already overrun your boundaries.”

“Listen,” I told the leaders. “We need to stay united. Our enemies will tire of dying, and they will lose interest in this land. Once we have made a name for ourselves as people that you don’t fuck with, then there shall be peace. Until then, we must stand together.”

“I be agreein’,” said Hagar. “That be why I came here to tell ye that we be needin’ a few hun’red o’ yer sons to protect our boundaries.”

“A few hundred?” I said, surprised by the number.

  “Aye.”

“We would like you to send your children to our borders as well,” said Moondar.
